Steps to Baking: Hacks & Tips

Baking your face is the hack to get flawless skin...

If you don't know what "baking" is lets face it, you're probably not part of this generation or you're living under a rock. And no oldies, we're not going to bake a cake here. We're going to bake our faces.

Eye look: (Refer to Natural Eyes Product Review)

For years, baking has been used in the drag community, don't brace it just yet, because glamour makeup, all those fancy makeup trends you follow on Facebook and Instagram, They took all their tips and tricks from the drag world. However, with recent "Pride" trends and more and more males wearing makeup, it has become popular within the makeup industry's sociolect, with stars and socialites such as Kim Kardashian using the technique. Baking refers to the process whereby you let translucent powder sit on your face for five to ten minutes, allowing the heat from your face to set your foundation.

You're probably wondering, "What heat?" well when you apply an excessive amount of powder to your skin that area of your face it can not breathe, and your natural body temperature which is somewhere around 98 degrees, comes through and it is trapped between the powder and the foundation, causing it to "bake" or "cook".

I'm honestly obsessed with this technique, Never do I ever put on makeup and not bake my face. I know it's a little excessive but if I'm not baking its because I have no makeup on. Baking is essential to beat creasing and fine lines. This technique also mattifies the face,  so if you suffer from excessively oily skin, I strongly recommend you turn on that oven and start baking.

When I am baking, because I want my makeup to be long wearing I often apply the product to my T-zone and anywhere prone to creasing and that I would highlight, and I usually let it sit for 10 minutes until I am completely finished with my eyes then I dust it off.

There are a few products I use for baking. A lot of people say baby powder can work for baking as well, however, I never tried it, but if you have, and you stand by it let me know.

There are three baking products I swear by, the RCMA translucent powder, Morphe Banana powder and Avon loose face powder in the shade Translucent.

These products I have used for years for my flawless baking technique and they always given me bullet proof, sweat proof make up. So mix your ingredients well and bake that face at 98 degrees.
